About the Author: Mary Rivers, PhD., is an assistant professor of Communication at Millikin University in Central Illinois. She teaches a variety of courses (Intercultural Communication, Persuasion, Interpersonal Communication). Her research focuses on Alzheimer's Disease and the effect it has on language and cognition.
