Quick way to tell when insert text mode is on
100LXInsert mode in MEMO lets you add text to a document, pushing existing text to the right and down. Replace mode lets you add text to a document, copying over and replacing existing text as the text is typed in. You can toggle between insert and replace modes in MEMO (and other applications) by pressing (Fn)-(DEL). Note at the top of the screen the word INSERT or REPLACE is displayed. Another way to tell is to look at the blinking cursor. If you're in insert mode, the cursor shows the outline of the character it's resting on. If you're in replace mode, the character is covered up by the cursor. For example: INSERT on: "Now is the time..." REPLACE on: "Now is the time..." Rich Hall Editor, The HP Palmtop Paper
