Converting tools

Some of the most difficult programs to write are those that convert data from one format to another. Such programs take time and a lot of detective work.

Here is a list of files found in the HPHAND libraries on CompuServe that purport to do data conversions for many of the applications in the HP Palmtop.

ADBIO.ZIP by Andreas Garzotto, May 1994

Two programs plus the source code convert *.ADBs (Appt Book files) to *.CDF (comma-delimited format) and back.

BMP100.ZIP Dan Pinson, July 1993

Converts Windows *.BMP files into 100LX icons. The converted icons may need some editing with ICN200LX.EXE before they look right.

CAT2CDF.ZIP 70323,343 Dec.1995

Reformats a library catalog into *.CDF. (This is the newest of several versions in the lib.)

A program for menu driven usage of the ADBIO and DBUTIL conversion programs.

Two programs for converting *.GDB files to *.CDF files and back. The programs were designed for the HP 100LX but work also with the 200LX.

Keyboard-stuffing program plus source code, Imports data into GDB and PDB files via the Palmtop's clipboard "until the real conversion tools are available."

Makes phonebook more compatible for converting into popular PIMs.

Includes a demonstration of how to convert 200LX database files into HTML that can be viewed with a Web browser.

Two programs for converting an NDB (NoteTaker file) to a GDB (database file) and back.
