A Doctor's Rx: Dr. Max Maizels has a unique way to use Software CarouselThe doctor has categorized his daily activities into Business, Home and Avocations. He maintains Databases, Phone Books and NoteTaker files for EACH of these categories. To make it easy to switch from one set of files to the other he created three different Software Carousel sessions, all of which run System Manager. In each SC session he loads and runs the appropriate Database, NoteTaker and Phone Book files. The technique of opening multiple database applications in several SC sessions is potentially dangerous. But the latest version of Software Carousel, v.7.07, prevents this from happening. Doctor Maizels uses a combination of Addkeys and Key200 along with special SC startup scripts to perform his magic. Needless to say a good backup system is the first prerequisite to such a practice. Rather than print his semi-secret prescription and risk the wrath of someone who loses a PhoneBook or Database file we've chosen to keep the prescription in its original electronic form. If you use Software Carousel and this sounds like something you'd like to try, look for the file called MAIZELS.ZIP on this issue of The HP Palmtop Paper ON DISK. The file will also be available on the S.U.P.E.R. site on the WWW. (Go to www.PalmtopPaper.com/download/htm and put MAIZELS in the search field and click the Fetch button. Download the file and unzip it to your disk. You'll be able to read the prescription written by the doctor. Trust me, it is a rare work of computing art that will take hours of study and experimentation to appreciate. I've studied the prescription but, on the advice of my doctor, have not implemented it. I don't want a reoccurrence of my obsessive-compulsive disorder.
