Another Way to Use Group Buttons

Another Way to Use Group Buttons

You can use Group Buttons or Check Boxes instead of a Category field in the built-in database applications. However, as was mentioned in Ed Keefe's article ("DataBasics" March/April 99), you can't name the Check Boxes something like '1_Option', '2_Option' because the Database Engine will tell you that these two are equivalent. However '1_Opt-1', '2_Opt-2',...,'A_Opt-A' aren't equivalent. In the Database Engine you can also use 'Opt1', 'Opt2',...,'AOptA' to label the fields.

The rule seems to be something like: "Remove leading digit 0,..,9 and remove all special characters like '_,-,....'.

To define a subset you may select the option '1-Opt-1' or you may enter '{1_Opt-1}' or '(Opt1)' etc. directly into the SSL-Screen.

For data entry the 'Alt+1' -key can be used to set the '1_Opt-1'-option.
