PUTTING NON-ALKALINE BATTERIES IN BACKWARDS CAN DAMAGE THE 95LX?

According to an HP Tech Support person, the 95LX does have reverse battery protection, but the circuit has been tested only with alkaline batteries, and HP will give no assurances that it will work or not self-destruct if a user installs Ni-Cds or equivalent. That is, if you install alkaline batteries backwards, the circuit will protect the 95LX without burning up, while all bets are off if you use Ni-Cds.
