GVC Mini-Modem (model MM24)This modem may require a hardware modification depending on the chip set used in the modem. This generally requires connecting pins 5 and 20 on the modem side of the cable to force DTR high. See the file GVCMOD.95 <ON DISK ICON> on CompuServe for details on how to perform this modification. Some of these modems will work right out of the box with the HP 95LX, so try it first before starting modification. Because of its low price, this modem has been fairly popular among HP 95LX users, who report good results after modifications are made (if necessary). This modem used to be available from CompuAdd for $69. According to GVC, it is no longer being manufactured, but still may be available from some sources. There have been some reports of this modem being available under different brand names. The manufacturer states that this modem has been replaced by a series of pocket fax/ modems. The GVC technical support department told me that these new modems would work with the HP 95LX without modification. The fax feature of these new modems will not work with the HP 95LX.
