CONNECTING THE 95LX TO A MODEM OR ANOTHER PC

CONNECTING THE 95LX TO A MODEM OR ANOTHER PC

The 95LX by itself, is a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment). All DTE's are designed to connect to a modem (a DCE, or "Data Communication Equipment") without having to switch pin positions in the connection. The HP cable that everyone uses switches the TD/RD pins and lets the 95LX plug right into to another DTE (your desktop PC). The adapter used to connect the serial cable to a modem cancels the TD/ RD switch done by the HP cable.
